AETHER
An interactive flagship for a sound-sculpture atelier — a site that behaves like an instrument. Silver forms bloom, turn and dissolve in real time, driven by the music playing through them.
An atelier that sculpts sound.
Aether is a fictional atelier that makes one thing: monolithic speakers cast from polished metal, each tuned like an instrument. We wrote the brief the way that studio would — a flagship site that doesn't describe the object so much as let you feel it resonate. The homepage should be the product demo.
What we made
A single real-time sculpture anchors the whole experience. It's built in Three.js — a woven silver relic inside a slow wireframe cage, lit with a hand-built chrome matcap so it reads as machined metal without a single external asset. It reacts to the visitor's pointer, dissolves as you scroll away, and, on the product pages, deforms to the frequency of the track playing through the Web Audio API.
- A procedural silver matcap for reliable chrome on every GPU — no HDR files, no heavy environment maps.
- Halo bloom and a warm angelic dust field, so the cold metal always sits inside something soft.
- Audio-reactive deformation: the relic breathes with the music, turning the page into an instrument.
- Everything degrades gracefully — reduced-motion visitors get a still, composed render instead of the loop.
The result
A flagship that feels less like a website and more like a vitrine you can reach into. It's the clearest statement of where the studio is going: an object rendered in the browser, not a page decorated with pictures of one. The 3D you see above is the actual concept engine — this is the placeholder relic standing in for the atelier's own model.
